Elderberry Plants & Seeds
Elderberry (Sambucus species) is a deciduous shrub or small tree. It can grow to around 6 metres tall and wide. It produces clusters of fragrant flowers followed by attractive dark blue to purple berries.
The ripe berries can be cooked and used in a variety of traditional recipes. These include jams, jellies, chutneys, syrups, juices, wines and sauces. The flowers are also popular for making Elderflower cordial and sparkling Elderflower drinks.
Elderberry has a long history of traditional use. Herbalists have traditionally used various parts of the plant in herbal preparations.
We offer Elderberry seeds for those wishing to grow their own plants. We also plan to offer small Elderberry plants when available. With suitable conditions and patience, Elderberry can develop into an attractive shrub or small tree for the garden.
Please note: Elderberry berries should be properly ripe and cooked before consumption. Other parts of the plant may not be suitable for eating.
