Frankincense Powder
Frankincense, also known as Olibanum, is an aromatic resin obtained from Boswellia trees. It has been traded across the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, and Somalia for over 5,000 years. Frankincense is used in perfumery, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and aromatherapy.
When burned as incense, this finely powdered resin releases a balsamic-spicy aroma with subtle lemon notes and a conifer-like undertone. It is traditionally used in aromatherapy to lift mood and support a sense of well-being.
Frankincense also has a long history in religious and spiritual practices. It is used in many Christian churches, including Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Catholic traditions. According to the Gospel of Matthew (2:11), frankincense was one of the gifts presented to Jesus by the Magi. Across Abrahamic faiths, frankincense has also been used with oils to anoint newborns, initiates, and individuals entering new phases of spiritual life.
