Description
Jiaogulan Herb Tea – Pure Dried Natural Leaf
Jiaogulan (Gynostemma pentaphyllum) is a climbing vine native to southern China, southern Korea, northern Vietnam and Japan. It has a long history of traditional use in Chinese herbal practices.
In China, Jiaogulan is known as the “Herb of Immortality”. Traditionally, people use Jiaogulan as an adaptogenic herb and as part of daily wellness routines.
Jiaogulan leaves contain naturally occurring plant compounds called gypenosides. These belong to a group of triterpene saponins and share similarities with the ginsenosides found in Panax ginseng.
The herb also naturally contains other plant compounds, including phenolic compounds, along with trace minerals, amino acids and other nutrients. Jiaogulan provides these compounds in their natural form, without the concentration or standardisation used in an extract.
Our Jiaogulan Herb Tea contains pure, dried natural Jiaogulan leaf. It offers a simple and traditional way to enjoy this well-known Asian herb as a tea.
How to Make Jiaogulan Tea
Place the desired amount of Jiaogulan leaf in a cup or teapot. Add freshly boiled water and allow the tea to steep for several minutes. Strain before drinking.
Jiaogulan can be enjoyed on its own or combined with other suitable herbs to create your own herbal tea blend.
Jiaogulan Herb vs Extract
Our dried Jiaogulan leaf contains the plant’s naturally occurring compounds in their natural proportions. We also offer a standardized Jiaogulan Extract for those looking for a more concentrated form of the herb.
The extract contains a minimum of 80% gypenosides, while the dried leaf does not have a set percentage of gypenosides.
