Kava Root Extra Fine / Quick-Mix Powder – Piper methysticum

Our Extra Fine Kava Root Powder is made from noble-grade Kava (Piper methysticum), a traditional Pacific Island botanical with a long history of cultural use.

Kava has been an important part of Pacific Island traditions for centuries. Traditionally, communities have prepared Kava root as a drink for ceremonies, welcoming occasions and social gatherings. Sharing Kava remains an important part of cultural traditions across many Pacific communities.

Our Kava powder is ground to an extra-fine consistency, making it convenient to prepare without the need for traditional straining. Although the powder does not completely dissolve in water, the very fine particles blend easily and leave only minimal root material.

Extra Fine Quick-Mix Kava

The fine texture makes this Kava particularly convenient for quick preparation. Simply add the desired amount to a cup of water and stir thoroughly.

Because the powder is so finely ground, you can use a smaller amount than you might with a coarser traditional Kava preparation. This can also make each bag go further.

For a simple preparation, start with ½ teaspoon and gradually adjust the amount according to your preferred strength. Up to 3 teaspoons can be used per cup. Stir well before drinking.

Unlike traditional Kava preparations, this extra-fine powder does not require straining. Some very fine root particles may remain in the drink, which is normal for this type of preparation.

Noble Kava Root

Kava comes from the roots and underground stems of Piper methysticum, a plant native to the Pacific Islands. The plant belongs to the pepper family, Piperaceae.

The term “noble Kava” refers to traditional Kava varieties that have been selected and cultivated for generations throughout the Pacific. Kava varieties can differ in their flavour, aroma and traditional characteristics.

Kava has a distinctive earthy flavour that may take some getting used to. It is traditionally enjoyed as a social drink and is often shared with others during gatherings and ceremonies.
