Description
Kola Nut Powder
Kola Nut Powder (Cola nitida) is derived from the seeds of the kola tree, which is native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa. It has a long history of traditional use alongside other well-known natural sources of caffeine, including guarana, coffee and tea. In many West African cultures, kola nuts are shared during social gatherings as a symbol of hospitality, goodwill and community.
Kola Nut also holds cultural and spiritual significance in parts of West Africa, particularly in countries such as Niger and Nigeria. In the late 1800s, it was one of the botanical ingredients used in the original formulation of the first cola-style soft drink, together with coca leaf extract.
Naturally occurring compounds in Kola Nut include caffeine, theobromine and theophylline, along with flavonoids and a range of other plant constituents.
Due to its naturally occurring caffeine, Kola Nut is valued for its stimulating properties. Those who are sensitive to caffeine should use it with caution and may wish to begin with a smaller serving to assess their individual tolerance.
